Garbhakranti fruit vegetables during pregnancy :

  • Fresh fruit vegetables are rich sources of micronutrients such as , minerals like iron and calcium and vitamins like folic acid , vitamin C [ascorbic acid] ,      thiamine [vitamin B1],riboflavin [vitamin B2] , niacin [vitamin B3], pyridoxine [vitamin B6] & carotenoids [pro vitamin A].
  • Iron is an essential element for the formation of hemoglobin of red blood cells and plays a vital role in the transport of oxygen.
  • During pregnancy, iron deficiency can lead low birth weight babies.
  • Folic acid is a haemopoietic vitamin essential for multiplication and maturation of haemoglobin in the red cells of the body.
  • Folic acid supplements reduce the risk of congenital anomalies (neural tube defects, cleft palate).
  • As the structural component, calcium is required for the formation and maintenance of skeleton [bones] and teeth.
  • Calcium is also required for normal contraction of muscles for limb’s movement, nervous activity, normal contractions of heart muscles and blood clotting.
