  • As I desire excellent progeny [dream baby], I should particularly abstain from unwholesome [unhealthy] diet and bad behaviour.
  • I should observe good conduct.
  • I should take wholesome [healthy] diet and observe good behaviour.

Mom I don’t like this food please !

I should AVOID the following food :

  • The food which is not good for my dream baby as this is very low on nutrition and reduce the nutrition that my dream baby gets.
  • When I take these junk food my consumption of healthy food goes down & hence it affects my dream baby`s nutrition.
    • Salty food [ excess salt ]
    • Deep fried food [ excess oil ]
    • Food with excess fat
    • Very sweet food [ excess sugar ]
    • Spicy food [ excess spices ]
    • Sour food [ excess sourness ]
    • Aerated / Carbonated drinks
    • Food low on nutrition like white bread , maida
    • Alcoholic beverages
    • Avoid refrigerated food if possible
    • Avoid canned food if possible.
  • Non vegetarian food increases the Tamas Guna in me and hence in my dream baby as it is obtained by killing other beings.
  • When the being is killed it has the negative substances in it’s body as it is scared of being killed.
  • These negative substances increase Tamas Guna.
  • Non vegetarian food is also difficult to digest and is not bowel friendly.
  • I can get all the nutrition required for my dream baby from a vegetarian diet. Vegetarian diet increases Satva Guna in me and my dream baby.

  • As per Ayurveda, eating excess salt during pregnancy may give birth to a baby, which might have early wrinkles and grey hairs or baldness.

  • Deep fried food is low on nutrition.
  • It causes acidity.
  • It is high on calories.
  • Deep fried food increases bad cholesterol in blood.

Food with excess fat :

  • High fat food such as cheese, hamburgers , fried chicken, pizza, french fries , butter should be avoided.
  • It is high on calories.
  • It increases bad cholesterol in blood.
  • High fat food causes acidity.

  • As per Ayurveda, eating excess sweet things may give birth to a baby having diabetes or over obese.

  • As per Ayurveda, eating excess pungent things during pregnancy may give birth to a weak baby.

Sour food [excess sourness] :

  • Sour food like pickle, tamarind should be avoided.
  • As per Ayurveda, excess sour food create toxins in blood.
  • Tamarind decreases iron absorption.

  • Aerated / carbonated drinks are low on nutrition.
  • These drinks cause acidity.
  • These drinks are high on calories.

  • Food with preservatives like biscuits, cakes, cookies, noodles, ready to eat foods containing certain added colours are low on nutrition and hence should be avoided.
  • White bread, maida [flour of refined wheat without fibre content] are low on nutrition.

  • Though non vegetarian food is high in proteins & iron; the same nutrition can be obtained from a proper vegetarian diet.
  • As per Ayurveda, non vegetarian food increases Tamas Guna [bad qualities] as non vegetarian is obtained after sacrificing objects.
  • When the animal is killed it has the negative substances in its body as it is scared of being killed.
  • These negative substances increase Tamas Guna.
  • Moreover non vegetarian food is difficult to digest and is not bowel friendly.

Horse gram

  • Horse gram can cause major acidity on consumption during pregnancy,
  • Consumption of horse gram may also lead to vaginal bleeding.
  • Therefore during pregnancy horse gram is not recommended.
